Pricing and available powers
Rather than a generic pricing grid that overestimates or underestimates your case, we offer a free thermal assessment at your home and a personalized quote. This page details the range of available powers, the calculation of the thermal need per room, and the VAT conditions applicable to your situation.
Why a personalized quote
Every home presents a unique combination of factors that weigh on the sizing and therefore on the quote:
- Total area and distribution per room
- Insulation level (roof, walls, windows, floor)
- Exposure of each room (North, South, double exposure)
- Ceiling height and volume to be heated
- Condition of the existing electrical circuit (panel capacity, available amperage)
- Type of housing (terraced house, villa, apartment, mezzanine)
- Actual use (primary residence, secondary, teleworking)
A fixed pricing grid cannot reflect these variations. The free thermal assessment specifically targets these parameters and makes it possible to establish a quote that will neither be oversized (excessive unused power) nor undersized (lasting discomfort).
The power range
EcoChaleur soapstone radiators are available in five power levels, from the auxiliary model to the flagship for large rooms. Here is the typical use per power.
| Power | Typical room | Indicative area | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 200 W | Toilet, dressing room, utility room, small office | up to 3 m2 | Auxiliary model, occasional use. |
| 500 W | Bathroom, small bedroom, utility room | 4 to 6 m2 | Fast pre-heating, compact wall format. |
| 1000 W | Standard bedroom, small office, compact dining room | 7 to 12 m2 | The most sold format in renovations. |
| 1500 W | Medium-sized living room, large bedroom, open kitchen | 13 to 18 m2 | Significant inertia, long heat release. |
| 2000 W | Large living room, open living space, mezzanine | 19 to 25 m2 | Flagship model, ideal for moderately insulated homes. |
Calculate the thermal need per room
For a preliminary estimate of the power to be installed, apply the following rule based on the insulation level of your home:
- Well-insulated home (PEB A or B): 70 W per m2 of heated area
- Average insulated home (PEB C or D): 100 W per m2
- Older non-renovated home (PEB E or lower): 130 to 150 W per m2
Correction coefficients are added to this basic calculation. A North-facing room adds about 10 percent to the basic need. A room with a ceiling height greater than 2.80 m requires an increase proportional to the volume. A room with double exposure (two external walls) also adds 10 to 15 percent.
Example: a 20 m2 living room in an average insulated home, facing South, height 2.50 m, requires approximately 2,000 W of installed power. This can be divided into a single 2000 W radiator, or two 1000 W radiators placed on either side.
6 percent VAT conditions
Two reduced VAT regimes coexist in 2026, applicable depending on the product:
- Classic renovation regime: soapstone radiators, boilers, water heaters. Condition: home over 10 years old, installation by a professional.
- Special heat pump regime 2026 to 2030: heat pumps and heat pump water heaters. No condition regarding the age of the home, applicable until December 31, 2030.
The VAT saving represents about 15 percent of the total invoiced amount compared to the standard rate of 21 percent. It is applied directly by the installer under his tax responsibility, without you having to take any steps. The EcoChaleur quote systematically displays the amount including VAT.
